The KanexPro MMX-8X8CAT-70M is an 18Gbps 8×8 HDMI matrix switcher with simultaneous mirrored HDBaseT CAT outputs, designed for professional AV installations that require flexible, long-distance signal distribution from a single rack location. It connects eight HDMI 2.0b sources to up to sixteen displays at once — eight via direct HDMI and eight via CAT6 extension to the included PoC-powered HDBaseT receivers, reaching up to 230ft (70m) per run. A single CAT6 cable carries the full 4K60 4:4:4 signal and simultaneously powers the remote receiver via 12V Power over Cable, eliminating the need for a separate power supply at each remote display location.

Every output supports resolutions up to 4K2K@60Hz (YUV 4:4:4) with 18Gbps uncompressed bandwidth, full HDR format pass-through (HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG), and HD audio including LPCM 7.1, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD Master Audio, and DTS-X. An independent 4K-to-1080p downscaler on each output allows mixed-resolution display environments without additional hardware. Advanced EDID management, CEC display control, and one-way IR matrix routing complete the signal chain. The matrix is controlled via front panel buttons, IR remote, RS-232 serial, TCP/IP LAN, or a browser-based Web GUI — compatible with Crestron, AMX, and other third-party control systems.

What is the maximum transmission distance for 4K60 video?

4K60 4:4:4 is supported up to 230ft / 70m via a single CAT6 cable to the included HDBaseT receiver. For longer distances, consider the MMX-8X8CAT-150M which extends to 492ft / 150m.

Can I route any input to any output independently?

Yes. The matrix supports fully independent routing — any of the 8 HDMI inputs can be assigned to any or all of the 8 HDMI/CAT output pairs simultaneously, including the same source to multiple outputs.

What cable type is required for CAT outputs?

Use CAT6 or CAT6A shielded cable (STP). Standard CAT5e may work at shorter distances but is not recommended for full 70m performance. Do not use crossover cables — direct interconnect (T568B) wiring only.

Do I need separate power supplies for the CAT receivers?

No. The MMX-8X8CAT-70M provides 12V Power over CAT (PoC) on all 8 CAT outputs. The included receivers are powered directly through the CAT6 cable — no additional power adapter is required at the remote end.

How do I access the Web GUI?

Connect the TCP/IP RJ45 port to your network. The default IP address is 192.168.1.100. Open a browser and navigate to that address. The default login is Admin / admin. Change the password after initial setup.

My display shows no video on a CAT-connected receiver. What should I check?

Verify CAT6 cable wiring (T568B, no crossover), check that the PoC LED on the receiver is illuminated, confirm the cable does not exceed 70m, and re-seat the RJ45 connectors. Also verify the EDID setting matches the display resolution using the Web GUI.

What is included in the box?

Does the matrix support audio de-embedding?

The MMX-8X8CAT-70M does not include coaxial or analog audio de-embedding outputs. For audio de-embedding, see the MMX-8X8CAT-150M which includes coaxial and balanced analog audio outputs per HDBaseT port.

Can I mix 4K and 1080p displays on the same matrix?

Yes. Each output has an independent 4K→1080p downscaler that can be enabled per output, allowing mixed-resolution displays to be connected simultaneously without affecting other outputs.
