Overview

Transforms a network of AVO-IPJP2K encoders and decoders into a fully managed AV over IP matrix — delivering drag-and-drop source switching, 9×9 video wall configuration, and KVM roaming from a single web interface without requiring dedicated AV matrix hardware. The AVO-IPCTL-JP2K connects to the same 1G managed switch as the encoders and decoders, automatically discovers all devices, and provides centralized control of video routing, audio management, Dante AV-A configuration, and RS-232/IR/GPIO automation.

Dual 1G network ports isolate the AV multicast network from the control network — keeping video traffic off the IT LAN while enabling management via Web GUI, SSH, or third-party control systems. The controller supports HTTPS and SFTP security protocols, a six-digit password system, and role-based user management, making it suitable for enterprise and institutional deployments. Works as the recommended companion to the AVO-IPJP2K, AVO-IPJP2KS, AVO-IPJP2KD, and other KanexPro JPEG2000 AV over IP endpoints.

Key features
  • Centralizes control of all AVO-IPJP2K encoders and decoders via drag-and-drop web GUI
  • Matrix switching — route any encoder to any decoder from browser without physical recabling
  • Video wall configuration up to 9×9 (81 displays) with bezel compensation
  • KVM roaming — move keyboard/mouse control between encoder zones from the web GUI
  • Dante AV-A management — configure audio routing for all Dante-enabled endpoints
  • Dual 1G network ports — VIDEO LAN (PoE) for AV endpoints, CONTROL LAN for IT network isolation
  • Auto-discovery, DHCP, and static IP configuration modes for Video LAN
  • MJPEG sub-stream preview — view all encoder feeds before switching
  • Two RS-232 ports + 4-channel GPIO + IR IN/OUT for third-party device control
  • HTTPS, SSH, and SFTP security with role-based user management
  • Web GUI URL: http://controller.local — default Control LAN IP: 192.168.6.100
  • PoE powered via VIDEO LAN port — DC 12V/1A adapter also included

How many endpoints can the controller manage?
The AVO-IPCTL-JP2K supports up to 762 encoder IDs and 762 decoder IDs on a single system.
Is the controller compatible with H.265 endpoints?
No — the AVO-IPCTL-JP2K manages JPEG2000 endpoints only. Use AVO-IPCTL-265 for H.265 systems.
What Video LAN IP modes are supported?
Three modes: Auto (controller assigns IP addresses automatically), DHCP (router assigns IPs), and Static (manual IP assignment). Select during initial setup wizard or via the Device page using Search Device Via Wizard.
Can the controller manage two types of encoder/decoder simultaneously?
Yes — the controller can simultaneously manage Gen 1 and Gen 2 JPEG2000 encoders and decoders in a single system.
Is the controller required for basic operation?
No — point-to-point unicast works without the controller. It is required for matrix switching, video wall (up to 9×9), and KVM roaming.
Can I use a single network switch?
Yes. Connect all encoders, decoders, and the VIDEO LAN port to one switch and leave the CONTROL LAN port connected to a PC. Single-switch mode is supported but AV/IT network isolation is not maintained in this configuration.
Encoders and decoders are not discovered after initial setup?
Ensure the VIDEO LAN port is connected to the same managed switch as all encoders and decoders. Verify the switch has IGMP Snooping enabled. Use the Search Device Via Wizard on the Device page to re-scan. If using static IP mode, confirm encoder/decoder IP ranges are within the configured Video LAN
How do I reset the controller to factory defaults?
Press and hold the RESET button on the front panel for approximately 10 seconds until the STATUS LED starts flashing. Release the button — the controller will reset automatically and reboot.
Can it power the encoders and decoders?
No — the controller manages control only. Endpoints are powered by PoE from the AV switch or their own DC adapters.
What security protocols does the controller support?
The AVO-IPCTL-JP2K supports HTTPS, SSH, and SFTP with role-based user management and a required 6-digit alphanumeric password set on first login.
