Overview

The AVO-IPSDV-4K brings SDVoE uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 to the AVO AV over IP lineup — delivering zero-frame latency, full Dolby TrueHD/Atmos and DTS:X audio, and instant seamless switching over a 10G managed network. A single transceiver unit switches between encoder and decoder mode via a front-panel button or API, with both copper 10G BASE-T and 10G SFP+ fiber ports active simultaneously for maximum deployment flexibility.

Supports video wall up to 9×9, multiview up to 25 windows, USB 2.0 KVM, bidirectional IR, RS-232, CEC routing, HDMI loop out, and analog audio bidirectional transmission. A dedicated 1G LAN port carries the H.264/H.265 secondary stream for device preview and secondary data. Managed by the AVO-IPCTL-SDV controller. Dante audio can be added as a custom option.

What makes SDVoE different from H.265 AV over IP?
SDVoE transmits completely uncompressed video — no codec, no compression artifacts, zero-frame latency. H.265 compresses video (16–33ms latency) and runs on 1G switches. SDVoE requires 10G. Choose SDVoE for broadcast, live production, and latency-critical applications; choose H.265 for cost-sensitiv
Why does it need a 10G switch?
Uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 requires approximately 18Gbps of video bandwidth per stream — exceeding 1G capacity. A 10G managed switch is required. Standard 1G switches cannot carry SDVoE streams.
What controller is required?
AVO-IPCTL-SDV (CTL100D) for matrix routing, video wall, multiview, USB KVM management, ENC/DEC mode assignment, and SHOW ME device location. Basic point-to-point operation works without the controller.
Is Dante supported?
Dante audio can be added as a factory-configured option. Contact KanexPro sales for Dante-enabled configuration and pricing.
How does mode switching work?
Hold the front-panel MODE button for 5 seconds. ENC/DEC LED flashes ~30 seconds during the switch, then stays on to confirm the new mode. Mode can also be set via API or AVO-IPCTL-SDV without touching the unit.
What switch is required?
10G managed switch with multicast/IGMP Snooping enabled, filter/drop unregistered multicast, and jumbo frames recommended. All transceivers and the controller connect to the same 10G switch. Contact KanexPro for validated switch recommendations.
No video on decoder — what to check?
1) Confirm MODE: ENC LED on encoder, DEC LED on decoder. 2) Verify both connected to 10G managed switch (not 1G). 3) Confirm IGMP Snooping enabled on switch. 4) Verify LINK LED is on (green). 5) Check ENC/DEC assignment in AVO-IPCTL-SDV controller. 6) Confirm HDMI source is connected and active at e
ENC/DEC LED is flashing — is this normal?
Yes — ENC/DEC LED flashes for approximately 15 seconds on power-on, then stays on. During a mode switch (MODE button held 5 sec), it flashes for approximately 30 seconds then stays on. In SHOW ME mode (activated by controller), the LED flashes to help locate the unit physically.
What is the price premium over H.265?
SDVoE infrastructure (10G switch + transceivers) is significantly higher cost than H.265 on 1G. The premium is justified for broadcast, live production, government operations, and premium AV where uncompressed quality and zero latency are non-negotiable requirements.
What verticals are the strongest fit?
Broadcast studios and live production, government and military operations centers, corporate boardrooms and premium screening rooms, trading floors, and university media production labs — any environment where video quality, latency, and audio fidelity are mission-critical.
