Overview

Extend USB 3.2 Gen 1 signals up to 100 meters over a single CAT6a cable — with bi-directional Power over Cable that eliminates the need for a power supply at the remote end. The KanexPro EXT-USBC-100M is a transmitter/receiver USB extender kit that delivers 5Gbps USB-C and USB-A connectivity to remote locations using standard network infrastructure, ideal for conference rooms, classrooms, digital signage, and industrial camera installations.

The transmitter connects to a host PC via USB-C and provides one USB-C and two USB-A device ports locally. The receiver extends an additional two USB-C and two USB-A device ports at the far end — supporting webcams, PTZ cameras, keyboards, mice, microphones, printers, and flash drives. RS-232 pass-through enables control system integration at both ends, while FSYNC GPIO support synchronizes industrial cameras. Bi-directional 24V PoC powers either unit through the CAT6a link. Plug-and-play with no drivers required.

Key features
  • Extends USB 3.2 Gen 1 signals up to 100m/328ft over a single CAT6a (F/FTP) cable at data rates up to 5Gbps
  • USB-C host connection on transmitter with one USB-C and two USB-A downstream device ports

What USB standard and speed does the EXT-USBC-100M support?
USB 3.2 Gen 1, extending signals up to 5Gbps, and it is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1.
USB 3.0 devices are operating at USB 2.0 speeds. What should I check?
Check the USB LED on both TX and RX; a blinking LED indicates a USB 2.0 connection. Use CAT6a (F/FTP) cable since lower-grade cable may not support 5Gbps, confirm the host supports USB 3.0 or higher, and keep cable length within 100m.
What is the maximum extension distance?
100m/328ft over a single CAT6a (F/FTP) cable; the local USB cable run at each end is limited to 1.5m/4.9ft.
How does bi-directional PoC power the system?
Connect the 24V/3.75A power supply to either the TX or RX; the other unit is powered through the CAT6a link, so only one power supply is needed for the entire system.
How is RS-232 passed between the TX and RX?
RS-232 commands pass through from the TX's 3-pin Phoenix connector to the RX's 3-pin Phoenix connector (and vice versa) for control system integration.
What power supply does the EXT-USBC-100M use?
A single AC 100-240V 50/60Hz to DC 24V/3.75A locking power supply, powering either the TX or RX via bi-directional PoC (Power over Cable); the other unit is powered through the CAT6a link.
What are the dimensions and weight of the TX and RX?
Each unit measures 100mm (W) x 85mm (D) x 25.5mm (H) (3.94 in x 3.35 in x 1.00 in); the TX weighs 265g (0.58 lb) and the RX weighs 275g (0.61 lb).
USB devices connected to the receiver are not detected by the host. What should I check?
Verify the CAT6a cable is properly connected between the TX and RX HDBT-USB3 ports, confirm the LINK LED is solid on both units, ensure the cable uses T568B direct interconnection (not crossover), and try a shorter cable run to rule out cable quality issues.
What is the EXT-USBC-100M used for?
Long-distance USB signal extension between a host and peripherals such as webcams, PTZ cameras, keyboards, mice, USB microphones, flash drives, printers, scanners, and touch panel displays.
Why is bi-directional PoC useful for installers?
It lets the integrator choose which end to power, the transmitter or the receiver, because the other unit is powered automatically through the CAT6a link, reducing the number of outlets needed at the install location.
