Overview

Most HDMI extenders cap out at 4K and 70-100m - leaving integrators without a viable single-cable solution for long-run 8K deployments or large-venue 4K installations that push past the 100m barrier. The KanexPro EXT-HD8K-150M closes that gap by extending HDMI 2.1 signals up to 150 meters over a single CAT6 cable, delivering 8K@30Hz at 40m, 4K60 4:2:0 at 100m, and full 1080p at 150m - all without active optical cables or signal repeaters.

The TX/RX kit ships with everything an integrator needs: bi-directional IR, RS-232, analog stereo audio de-embedding on both TX and RX, 24V PoC, and a 7-mode DIP-switch EDID manager. HDCP 2.3, HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HLG supported end-to-end.

What installs call for the EXT-HD8K-150M over shorter-reach extenders?
It suits large conference rooms, auditoriums, broadcast studios, and digital signage where source equipment sits far from displays and 8K or 4K signal must reach up to 150m over CAT6.
What is the maximum resolution and video bandwidth?
The TX input is HDMI 2.1 at 48Gbps and the RX output is HDMI 2.0. HDCP 2.3/1.x is supported, with color space up to YCbCr 4:4:4/4:2:2/4:2:0 and 8/10/12-bit color depth.
What are the maximum distances by resolution?
8K@30Hz reaches 40m/131ft, 4K60 4:4:4 reaches 60m/197ft, 4K60 4:2:0 reaches 100m/328ft, and 1080p@60Hz reaches 150m/492ft, all over CAT6.
How is RS-232 wired between TX and RX?
A 3-pin phoenix connector on both TX and RX passes RS-232 bidirectionally at 300-115200 baud for third-party control system integration.
How is PoC used to power the receiver?
Connect the 24V/2.7A supply to the TX DC 24V input; the TX powers the RX over the same CAT6 cable via 24V PoC, so no power outlet is required at the display end. The RX can likewise power the TX.
What cable is required, and are patch cables acceptable?
Use a high-quality solid-core CAT6 or CAT6a cable; CAT6 cable is not included. Avoid stranded patch cables for runs over 30m, and use CAT6a or CAT7 for runs over 100m.
What are the unit dimensions and weight?
TX and RX each measure 8.46 x 6.10 x 1.02 in (215 x 155 x 26mm) and weigh 1.46 lb (660g).
There is no video at the display after connection. What should I check?
Verify the CAT6 cable is straight-through (not crossover), confirm both TX and RX power LEDs are lit, try setting the EDID DIP switch to match the display resolution (for example position 5 for 4K60 2CH), and check that the source outputs a supported resolution.
The image drops intermittently at long distances. What should I check?
Ensure solid-core CAT6 cable is used, since stranded patch cables degrade signal quality significantly beyond 30m. Avoid running near high-voltage power lines, and use CAT6a or CAT7 for runs over 100m.
What distinguishes the HDMI input on the TX?
The TX HDMI input uses a locking connector that prevents accidental disconnection in rack or behind-wall installations.
