Overview

Delivers a full 1080p HDMI signal to a display up to 50m/164ft away over a single Cat6/6a run you already terminate on site. The kit pairs a compact metal transmitter and receiver, each in a black enclosure, and runs from one 5V/1A supply at the source end — one-way PoC powers the receiver over the same cable, so no outlet is needed at the display. Transmission is uncompressed and zero-delay at up to 1080p@60Hz / 1920×1200@60Hz, making HDEXT50M the right choice for classrooms, digital signage, and small-room installs where reach, single-cable simplicity, and source-side control matter more than 4K or HDBaseT bandwidth.

An HDMI loop-out on the transmitter drives a local monitor alongside the extended run, and EDID copy pass-through on both the source and sink ends keeps handshakes clean across mixed displays. Bi-directional IR pass-through (20K–60KHz) lets a remote at the display control a source hidden in the rack — or the reverse — so the equipment stays secured while the room stays operable. Audio passes through to LPCM 7.1, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD Master. Where commodity single-cable units ship in plastic with one-way or no IR, HDEXT50M combines a metal enclosure with stated ESD protection, bi-directional IR, and single-cable one-way PoC in one channel-supported SKU.

What is the maximum video bandwidth this extender passes?
The HDEXT50M passes video up to 4.95Gbps.
What video resolutions does the HDEXT50M support?
It supports resolutions up to 1080p@60Hz and 1920x1200@60Hz, at 8-bit color depth.
How does IR control join the two ends of the link?
IR is bi-directional over the single CAT run: connect a 5V IR wideband receiver to the IR IN and a 5V IR blaster to the IR OUT at each end using the supplied 1.5m cables.
What IR signal levels and frequency range does the HDEXT50M work with?
The IR pass-through operates at a 5Vp-p level across a wideband 20K to 60KHz frequency range.
How do I terminate the CAT cable for the HDEXT50M?
Use UTP connectors terminated straight-through to T568B at both ends; do not cross-connect the pairs.
What plugs into the transmitter?
Connect your HDMI source to the transmitter HDMI IN, and run a single CAT6/6a cable from the transmitter CAT OUT to the receiver CAT IN. An optional local display can be driven from the transmitter HDMI loop-out.
The remote display shows no picture. What should I check first?
Confirm the green Power LED is lit on both units, then verify the CAT cable is terminated straight-through to T568B at both plugs, and check the HDMI cables are seated at the source and at the display.
The receiver has no power and its LED is dark. What is wrong?
The receiver is powered over the cable by one-way PoC from the transmitter, so confirm the transmitter has its 5V/1A adapter connected and its green Power LED lit, then check the CAT run between CAT OUT and CAT IN.
The same-looking box is on Amazon for much less — why buy the KanexPro?
Because the price gap buys things the commodity unit doesn't include: a metal enclosure with stated ESD protection, bi-directional IR, KanexPro warranty and US-based support, and availability through the distribution and reseller channel you already order from. For a line item that has to work for y
Does this do 4K?
No — it is a 1080p / 1920×1200 at 60Hz extender by design. If the source and display are 1080p, that's the right match and you don't pay for unused bandwidth. When the job genuinely needs 4K or a longer run, step up to EXT-HD50C (1080p to 70m / 4K@30 to 40m) or the KanexPro 4K/18G line.
