Overview

The KanexPro WP-EXTHDTC70 is a 2×1 HDMI and USB-C HDBaseT wall plate extender kit for professional AV installations requiring 4K/60Hz signal extension with full KVM capability. Housed in a single-gang US Decora-style enclosure, the wall plate transmitter accepts HDMI 2.0b or USB-C sources — including MacBooks, Windows laptops, and mobile devices — and extends them over a single CAT6/6a/7 cable to the included receiver. With HDR10/HDR10+, Dolby Atmos, and 18Gbps bandwidth, it delivers 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 up to 40 meters and 1080p up to 70 meters.

Designed for BYOD conference rooms, classrooms, and huddle spaces, the WP-EXTHDTC70 eliminates the need for local AC power at the wall plate — the receiver supplies power over the cable via POE. Two USB-A ports on the receiver extend USB 2.0 peripherals such as keyboards, mice, and touchscreens back to the source for full KVM control. Auto-switching detects the active source and prioritizes HDMI; a front-panel SOURCE button enables manual override. Available in interchangeable black and white faceplates.

What is in the WP-EXTHDTC70 package?
The kit ships with one 18Gbps 70M USB-C/HDMI KVM wall plate transmitter, one receiver, and a user manual.
Why choose the WP-EXTHDTC70 over a wall plate extender without KVM?
It combines HDMI and USB-C source switching with full USB 2.0 KVM extension to the receiver end, letting integrators put keyboard, mouse, or touchscreen control at the display while power reaches the wall plate over the same CAT6/6a/7 cable via POE.
What is the maximum transmission distance for the WP-EXTHDTC70?
Over a single CAT6/6a/7 cable, 1080p extends up to 230 ft (70m) and 4K extends up to 131 ft (40m).
What video resolutions does the WP-EXTHDTC70 support?
Supported resolutions include 4096x2160 and 3840x2160 at 24/25/30/50/60Hz, 2048x1080p, 1080p from 23.98 to 60Hz, 1080i, 720p, 576p/i, and 480p/i, at up to 18Gbps bandwidth with 8/10/12-bit color depth.
How does the USB 2.0 KVM function work on the WP-EXTHDTC70?
Connect the source computer's USB port to the USB-B port on the wall plate transmitter. The two USB-A ports on the receiver then extend USB 2.0 peripherals such as keyboard, mouse, and touchscreen back to the source for KVM control.
How do I switch between the HDMI and USB-C inputs?
Press the SOURCE button on the transmitter to toggle between HDMI and USB-C inputs. In automatic mode, HDMI is prioritized when both are active.
What wall opening does the transmitter fit?
The transmitter is housed in a US one-gang Decora-style enclosure and is available in interchangeable black and white faceplates.
There is no video on the display. What should I check?
Verify all cables are securely connected, use CAT6 or better and avoid patch cables and couplers, then power cycle the source and the display.
Signal is lost after switching between HDMI and USB-C sources. Why?
This is typically an EDID mismatch or handshake failure. Reconnect the CAT cable at both ends and power cycle the source device.
What use cases fit the WP-EXTHDTC70 best?
BYOD conference rooms where presenters need to connect either a USB-C laptop or an HDMI source, and where the room also needs remote keyboard, mouse, or touchscreen control at the source position via the receiver's KVM ports.
