Overview

Adds a controllable display to an existing H.265 AV-over-IP system without adding another encoder. The AVO-IP265HDK-DEC is a 1080p60 KVM decoder in a black metal enclosure that drives one HDMI display from any source on a standard 1G managed network, powered by PoE (802.3af Class 3) from the same switch port that carries video or by a local 12V/1A supply. It distributes point-to-point, one-to-many, in a distributed matrix, and across a video wall up to 9×9, extending signals up to 328 ft (100 m) over CAT5E/6/6A/7. It is the right choice for control rooms, dispatch floors, sports bars, houses of worship, and classrooms where screen count, USB/KVM control, and per-endpoint cost matter more than 4K.

Every display added on the network can re-route any encoder's source through the Web GUI, IR, RS-232, TCP/IP, or a Controller Box, with H.265/H.264 compression at up to 1920×1200@60Hz 4:4:4 and main-stream/sub-stream encoding to manage bandwidth. Beyond video, it keeps the control plane intact: USB/KVM host control one-to-one and one-to-many, bidirectional IR and RS-232 (pass-through and Guest mode), and analog audio de-embedding to a 3-pin phoenix output. As the decode half of a split architecture, it lets integrators order only the direction each job needs and turn display expansion into a simple per-screen add-on, pairing with the AVO-IP265HDK-ENC encoder, sold separately.

What video compression does the AVO-IP265HDK-DEC use, and how much video bandwidth does it carry?
The AVO-IP265HDK-DEC decodes H.265 / H.264 compression and supports up to 4.95 Gbps of video bandwidth.
What color depth does the AVO-IP265HDK-DEC handle?
Input accepts 8-bit, 10-bit, and 12-bit (at 1080p@60Hz); the output is 8-bit.
How is the AVO-IP265HDK-DEC controlled?
It can be controlled by IR, RS-232, TCP/IP, Web GUI, and a Controller Box.
How do I pair the AVO-IP265HDK-DEC to an encoder over RS-232?
Connect the decoder's 3-pin phoenix RS-232 port (TX, Ground, RX) to a PC or control system and send !OUT xxx FR yyy\r\n, where xxx is the decoder ID and yyy is the encoder ID.
What connects to the outputs on the AVO-IP265HDK-DEC?
The single HDMI OUT (Type A, 19-pin female) connects to a display such as a TV or monitor, and the 3-pin phoenix AUDIO OUT connects to an amplifier or loudspeaker; the analog audio follows the audio output of the Encoder.
How do I rack mount the AVO-IP265HDK-DEC?
In a standard 6U rack you can install up to 10 units vertically using the included screws and mounting ears; in a standard 1U rack you can install up to 4 units horizontally by stacking pairs between two 1U rack panels.
The display on my AVO-IP265HDK-DEC shows no picture. What do I check?
First check the POWER LED, which should be solid on (flashing at 2 Hz means it is still starting up). Then read the green LINK LED: off means it is not connected to the network, flashing means it is connected but receiving no video data (check the encoder and source), and on means video data is pres
How do I tell if the AVO-IP265HDK-DEC network link is good at the LAN port?
The green Link Signal Indicator is lit when the network cable is connected normally and dark when it is not connected well; the yellow Data Signal Indicator flashes when data is transmitting and is dark when there is no data.
Does it do 4K?
No. This decoder is 1080p / 1920×1200 at 60Hz, 4:4:4, HDCP 1.4. It is built for operational and multi-screen display where 1080p is sufficient. For 4K rooms or role-switchable endpoints, the AVO-IP265-4K transceiver is the correct KanexPro SKU.
What network does it need?
A standard 1G managed switch with multicast/IGMP support. It runs point-to-point, one-to-many, matrix, and up to 9×9 video wall over that fabric. It is not a plug-into-any-unmanaged-switch consumer box; the network should be designed for multicast.
