Overview

Distributes one HDMI source to an unlimited number of displays over the standard 1G network you already have. The AVO-IP265HDK-ENC encodes 1080p60 video with efficient H.265/H.264 compression and rides a standard managed Gigabit switch, so display count is set by the network rather than by fixed matrix port count. Housed in a compact 8.03 x 3.74 x 0.85 in (204 x 95 x 21.5 mm) metal enclosure and powered over PoE (802.3af Class 3, approximately 3.48 W) straight from the switch, it rack-mounts up to ten units in a 6U frame or four across a 1U panel for high-density headends. It is the right choice for distribution, KVM and signage jobs where reach, per-seat cost and density matter more than 4K.

On that same 1G fabric it supports point-to-point extension, multicast distribution, distributed matrix switching and video walls up to 9x9, with intelligent wall-layout management and main-stream/sub-stream encoding for low-bandwidth preview or capture. A USB host port and two USB device ports deliver one-to-one and one-to-many USB/KVM, while bidirectional IR and RS-232 (pass-through and Guest mode) carry control to attached equipment, and an HDMI local loop-out feeds a confidence monitor without consuming a decoder. Streams are configured from the built-in Web GUI or a KanexPro Controller Box, and control runs over IR, RS-232, TCP/IP, Web GUI or controller. As the transmit half of a split encoder/decoder architecture, it lets integrators order the exact encoder-to-decoder ratio each job needs; its matched receiver, the AVO-IP265HDK-DEC KVM decoder, is sold separately.

1080P60 H.265 AV over IP KVM Encoder applications
What color depth does the AVO-IP265HDK-ENC accept on its HDMI input?
The AVO-IP265HDK-ENC accepts 8-bit, 10-bit, or 12-bit input at 1080p@60Hz. Its output is 8-bit.
What audio format and sample rates does the AVO-IP265HDK-ENC handle?
It handles LPCM 2.0CH at 32, 44.1, or 48 kHz, with audio embedding and extraction.
What control methods can drive the AVO-IP265HDK-ENC?
It can be controlled by IR, RS-232, TCP/IP, Web GUI, and a Controller Box.
Can the AVO-IP265HDK-ENC do matrix switching without a Controller Box?
Yes. The AVO-IP265HDK-ENC supports single-machine control, so you can perform matrix switching using local IR or RS-232 without a Controller Box.
How is the AVO-IP265HDK-ENC powered?
It can be powered by the included DC 12V/1A locking adapter, or by PoE (802.3af Class 3, PD mode) from the network switch. When the switch supplies PoE, the DC adapter is not needed.
What must the network switch support for the AVO-IP265HDK-ENC?
The switch should be a Layer-3 / managed type with gigabit bandwidth. It must have multicast enabled, IGMP snooping enabled, and filtering of unregistered multicast traffic enabled.
The AVO-IP265HDK-ENC LINK LED is flashing quickly (5 Hz) and there is no picture. What is wrong?
A 5 Hz flash means the network is connected but the input signal is incompatible, above 1920x1200 or above 60 fps. Lower the source to within 1920x1200 at 60 Hz or less; a solid green LINK LED confirms a compatible signal is present.
The AVO-IP265HDK-ENC LINK LED flashes at 2 Hz. What should I check?
A 2 Hz flash means the network is connected but there is no video input. Check the HDMI source and the HDMI IN connection; the LINK LED goes solid once a compatible signal arrives.
This is 1080p, not 4K - why choose it over a 4K AV-over-IP system?
Because most distribution, KVM and signage jobs are 1080p, and paying 4K endpoint prices on every source is wasted budget. This encoder delivers switched HDMI, KVM and control on a standard 1G switch at a 1080p per-seat price. For jobs that genuinely need 4K, the KanexPro AVO-IP265-4K transceiver is
What network does it need?
A standard managed 1G (Gigabit) switch with multicast/IGMP snooping configured. It supports point-to-point, multicast distribution, distributed matrix and video wall on that switch - no proprietary chassis. Confirm the switch's PoE budget and multicast settings during design.
