Overview

Eliminate the multi-device workaround of chaining an HDMI extractor into an analog Dante encoder. The KanexPro AUD-DTE-HDMI converts HDMI-embedded audio directly into Dante 2-channel digital audio in a single compact adapter — keeping the signal fully digital from HDMI source to Dante destination with no analog stage and no conversion loss.

Built on the Dante® Ultimo 2×2 chipset, it accepts any HDMI™ 2.0b source at up to 192kHz/24-bit and delivers Dante® output at 44.1/48/88.2/96kHz with configurable 1/2/5ms latency and full AES67 interoperability. Powered by PoE (802.3af Class 0) or USB-C, it installs anywhere without dedicated power infrastructure.

Key features
  • Converts 2-channel PCM HDMI™ audio to Dante® digital audio — fully digital, zero analog conversion loss
  • HDMI™ 2.0b input accepts PCM 2CH at 32kHz–192kHz/24-bit from any HDMI™ source (laptop, camera, player)
  • Dante® output supports 44.1 / 48 / 88.2 / 96kHz @ 24-bit with full AES67 cross-vendor interoperability
  • Configurable Dante® latency — 1ms for lip-sync-critical presentations, 5ms for network stability
  • Powered via PoE (IEEE 802.3af Class 0) or USB-C 5V — single-cable install with no dedicated power supply
  • Dante® Ultimo 2×2 chipset — SNR >130dB, THD+N <0.01%, frequency response 20Hz–20kHz (±0dB)
  • EDID management via API — Internal (4K60/PCM 2CH), User Defined 1, User Defined 2
  • API control via USB-C virtual RS-232 — EDID programming, firmware update, reboot, factory reset
  • Compact 115×40×28mm, 90g enclosure — installs behind displays, on rack shelves, or on desks

HDMI to Dante® 2CH Network Audio Encoder applications
What Dante audio output does the unit provide?
Dante output supports PCM 2CH at 44.1, 48, 88.2, or 96kHz, 16/24-bit, with AES67 RTP interoperability.
The HDMI LED is off or the source shows no audio at the Dante output - what should I check?
Confirm the HDMI LED is solid green (active signal detected) rather than flashing (booting); send "get status" via the USB-C API port to check input cable, resolution, and audio format, and verify the HDMI source is configured to output PCM 2CH audio.
What environments is the AUD-DTE-HDMI designed for?
It targets recording studios, live events, conference rooms, classrooms, broadcast facilities, and houses of worship that need to pull audio off an HDMI source onto a Dante network without an analog conversion stage.
What single-cable installation benefit does the AUD-DTE-HDMI provide?
PoE IEEE 802.3af Class 0 delivers both Dante audio transport and device power over one RJ45 cable, and the USB-C port doubles as a backup power input, firmware update port, and API control port.
Why choose the AUD-DTE-HDMI over an analog de-embedder plus separate Dante encoder?
It de-embeds PCM 2CH audio directly from HDMI to Dante 2CH digital audio in one Dante Ultimo 2x2 device, avoiding the added analog conversion stage and signal loss of a two-box de-embed-then-encode setup.
What Dante latency options are available?
Dante Controller allows configurable device latency of 1, 2, or 5ms.
Does the AUD-DTE-HDMI pass HDMI video through to a display?
No. It extracts audio only from the HDMI stream; if the source also needs to feed a display, install a KanexPro HDMI splitter upstream of the adapter.
How do I check system status and firmware version via API?
Connect the POWER (USB-C) port to a PC and open a serial terminal at 115200 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity; send "get status" for input cable, resolution, color space, audio format, HDCP, and EDID status, or "get fw version" for the MCU firmware version.
How is the AUD-DTE-HDMI powered?
It accepts PoE IEEE 802.3af Class 0 through the DANTE RJ45 port, or USB-C 5V/500mA when PoE is unavailable; maximum power consumption is 1.8W.
What are the dimensions and weight of the AUD-DTE-HDMI?
4.53 in x 1.57 in x 1.10 in (115 x 40 x 28mm), 0.20 lbs (0.09kg), in a black plastic enclosure.
